Employee analytics ethics: the three lines your people data shouldn't cross

By Aditi Rao · 20 August 2025

People analytics is powerful. It's also easy to misuse. The three lines our customers' data councils enforce — and why they're non-negotiable.

Line one: individual-level analytics go only to the individual's manager (and above, through formal escalation). Aggregated analytics go broader. We enforce this in PeopleVizio's role hierarchy.

Line two: predictive flight-risk scores are shown as actionable signals, not ranked lists. A manager should see 'high risk' on an employee when they're already having the conversation — not as a list sorted descending.

Line three: location analytics stay at the site level. We don't support GPS heat-maps of individual employees. Ever.
